Breaking: Dwayne Haskins enters game, leads FG drive

The rookie is finally under center for the Washington Redskins.

It took a completely inept start to the first half for Case Keenum, but the Washington Redskins and head coach Jay Gruden have finally decided to unleash Dwayne Haskins on the NFL. The first-round QB out of Ohio State came in after Keenum overshot a wide open Trey Quinn for the second time of the game and the Washington offense was sputtering.

Quinton Dunbar had just intercepted the No. 6 overall pick, New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones for the second-consecutive pass when the switch was made.

After two Adrian Peterson runs, Haskins opened up his arm and completed two consecutive passes to gain another first down. Two plays later, Haskins used his legs to gain another first down and got the ball to the 1-yard line thanks to a 14-yard scramble.

The drive fizzled out at the goal-line though, after a stuffed run and incomplete attemptes to TEs Jeremy Sprinkle and Vernon Davis.

Gruden decided to get the points instead of going for a fourth-down try.

Washington cut the score to 14-3.
