Madden Don’t Lie! Cowboys Dak Prescott Better Than MVP?

With quarterback Dak Prescott, did Madden 24 finally rate a Dallas Cowboys player properly ahead of the game's release?

EA has continued to release the Madden ratings for some of the top NFL players ahead of the 2023 season, and they've finally been kind to a Dallas Cowboys player in quarterback Dak Prescott.

Amongst quarterbacks in this year's game, Dak ranks No. 7 with an 87 overall in the popular video game - ahead of the New York Jets' recently-acquired quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a man that's won two of the last three MVP trophies. On the other hand, Dak struggled in one area last season after throwing 15 interceptions in just 12 regular-season games.

Other quarterbacks that might take some offense to being listed below the Cowboys signal-caller are Pro Bowlers, such as the Minnesota Vikings' Kirk Cousins, Detroit Lions Jared Goff, and Jacksonville Jaguars' rising star Trevor Lawrence. While some may be upset and call out the game for being biased toward “America's Team,” they'd be delusional to suggest such a thing.

If anything, Dak's rating in Madden is makeup for just how badly it treated other Dallas stars, such as cornerback Trevon Diggs and running back Tony Pollard. Despite having the highest yards per carry average (5.2) amongst 1,000-yard rushers, the game ranked Pollard ninth amongst his peers. Even worse, Diggs, a back-to-back Pro Bowler and 2021 First Team All-Pro selection, was listed as the game No. 12 corner.

Ranking Diggs outside the top 10 cornerbacks in the league is a slap in the face to all of Cowboys Nation, and not even giving him a 90 overall explains why he tweeted that the whole game should be thrown away.

Perhaps Dak is too high, or perhaps his Madden rating isn't high enough to begin the season, but as Dallas approaches training camp, it's unlikely that the quarterback cares about any games outside of the ones taking place in real life. Whether or not his rating goes up remains to be determined by people coding in an office, but the actual success of the Cowboys' offense rests in his hands.
