NFL Top 5 WR Duos - Cowboys CeeDee Lamb And Brandin Cooks Rank?

The Dallas Cowboys have a new one-two punch at receiver in CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks, but are they good enough to be in the top-five duos in the NFL?

The Dallas Cowboys had an offense that was largely dependent on CeeDee Lamb last season. With his 1,359 aerial yards, the next best receiver was Noah Brown with 555.

Hence why the acquisition of Brandin Cooks was made. A veteran in the league and boasting 1,000+ receiving yards in six of the last eight seasons, Cooks brings a level of production that, aside from Lamb, Dallas hasn't had since Amari Cooper and a fleeting 2019 season from Gallup (1,107 yards).

With Lamb and Cooks, two perennial 1,000-yard receivers on the books, they could form quite the offensive duo next season.

But are they good enough to be ranked in the top five receiver duos in the NFL? Former Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins is creating his list and has the pair at No. 5.

Others on Hawkins' list included Tyreek Hill/Jaylen Waddle (No. 1), Ja'Marr Chase/Tee Higgins (No. 2), A.J. Brown/DeVonta Smith (No. 3), and Tyler Lockett/DK Metcalf at No. 4.

“No. 5, we got a new duo coming here, my man Lamb Chops and Cookie Monster, CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks,” Hawkins said on NFL Live. “Brandin Cooks is a guy that I feel that we should be talking about more because he is so consistent. We know what CeeDee Lamb can do, and now they will have balance on the other side. I think we are going to see a phenomenal year from Dak Prescott.”

A phenomenal year for Prescott? We'll take that. (Those nicknames for his receivers? We’re not sure we’ll take those!)

We shouldn't underestimate what Cooks will do for the Cowboys' offense as a whole. Last year, there was no "speed-burner" to stretch the field consistently.

T.Y. Hilton was signed off the couch but only played 27 percent of the offensive snaps (60). Cooks will be significantly more involved and will play a vital role in how Dallas goes about its business offensively.

With every chance that Lamb and Cooks could each top 1,000 yards receiving next season, the Cowboys boast a seriously talented group on paper. Now it's about doing it when it counts.

Lamb rose to stardom last season as the leading man and now has a savvy veteran with home run speed alongside him. Are they a top-five receiver duo? Right now, we say yes, and by season's end, they could move their way up the list.
