Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Reveals Workout Plan With Ezekiel Elliott: 'My Best Friend!'

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is continuing his workouts with former teammate and close friend Ezekiel Elliott, even after Zeke's release this offseason

Teammates may come and go, but the bond between them can last forever.

At least, that's the case for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and now ex-Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. Both members of the Cowboys' 2016 draft class, Prescott and Elliott have been one of the NFL's top quarterback-running back duos over the last several years. Both have earned multiple Pro Bowl nods and have been very productive for most of their careers.

Unfortunately, the duo's time together in Dallas came to an end in March, when the Cowboys officially released Elliott. However, their relationship is still as strong as ever. Prescott is continuing his regular backyard - “Dak-Yard” - workouts with Elliott in attendance and looking as good as ever, according to the quarterback.

“That’s my best friend,” Prescott told the Dallas Morning News. “We’ll continue to work, continue to push each other. He looks great. I’m excited for whatever opportunity he has coming up, and I’m always his biggest fan.”

Elliott isn't the only high-profile running back looking for a job this offseason. With the running back position being valued less and less, past stars such as Dalvin Cook, Kareem Hunt and Leonard Fournette are still on the market near the end of June. Seeing his close friend going through this situation, Prescott empathizes with running backs in the modern NFL.

“I think the running back position is tough,” Prescott said. “All those guys are dynamic backs, can still play and have a lot left in the tank. I hope all of them make the right decision and not just jump on whatever’s fast. You’re never surprised about what this league does. You always have to understand it’s a business and try not to take anything personal.”

The door may not be entirely closed on Elliott returning to Dallas, but it seems more unlikely with every passing day. Regardless of what happens going forward, though, Prescott and Elliott will always be in each other's corner.
