'It's Insane!' Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys Criticism 'Upsetting,' Says CeeDee Lamb

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is no stranger to criticism. Part of it is simply having the star on his helmet, but in any event, you will be hard-pressed to find a player in the NFL that gets the goalposts moved as much in a conversation as much as Dak.

Criticism is part of the job, and for quarterbacks, when things go right, they get more of the plaudits, and when things go bad, they get the share of the blame, but for Dak, it seems a little more pointed (example: Prescott's turnovers last year, compared to Buffalo Bills Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts this year) ... even as some of it is justified (his performance against the San Francisco 49ers).

For CeeDee Lamb, who has had a front-row seat to what Prescott has had to deal with over the years, it's all a bit troubling.

Or, "insane,'' even.

“He's deals with so much criticism,'' Lamb said, "that it's insane," Lamb said. "Like, he'll have a bad game, and oh my God, (he gets called) all kinds of names, and it's upsetting.''

Lamb is joining coach Mike McCarthy and others in expressing amazement at Dak's ability to handle the hateful abuse.

"At the end of the day, everybody is entitled to their own opinion,'' Lamb said. "(But) Dak is doing a great job of blocking it out and ... being the player that he is.

"And so far he's been crushing it.”

Indeed. In Dak's last five games, he has a 4-1 record, has thrown for 1,543 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, and has completed 70.8 percent of his passes while averaging a 118.7 rating.

Such has been Prescott's form since that fateful night in Santa Clara; there has been (admittedly premature) MVP talk, with Lamb the big beneficiary of Dak's form.

Lamb has already surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and is coming off a game where he grabbed a touchdown in a win against Carolina.

But what has made the pair such a dominating presence on the field?

“Just trusting in our abilities, believing in one another, and staying on the same page," Lamb said. "I feel like with that none of that's beatable ... I'm going to win my matchup and that he's going to see me, and it's clicking right now.”

With the Cowboys sitting at 7-3, the race is on to try and reel in the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1), and that starts with the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving.

But again, Prescott is in a no-win situation. Beat the Commanders, and the "it's only Washington" talk begins, but lose, and then the "insane'' critics get the ammunition they crave.

Again, it's part of the job, and Prescott is dealing with being the quarterback of "America's Team'' the best he can, even if his teammates are upset with what is getting thrown his way.
