Cowboys Dodge Beckham Bullet? OBJ Reveals Retirement Plan

In this story:
The often-talked-about Dallas Cowboys' late-2022 pursuit of then free-agent Odell Beckham didn't culminate in a deal being done between the two sides. And that fact might now bring on a sigh of relief following a recent revelation from the new Baltimore Ravens receiver.
"I'm thinking like this is my last year," Beckham said. "I'm going to give it my all this year. And then if something happens after that, we can go from there."
This isn't the first retirement that the 30-year-old receiver has contemplated, as in the same interview, he revealed that his return to the field this season with the Ravens almost didn't happen.
“I went through a lot the last couple of years, and I thought it was over,” Beckham told The Athletic, speaking about his rehab. “I didn’t want to get back up on the horse and do the same song and dance all over again.”
Beckham has been full of surprises since signing with the Ravens in April. During his introductory press conference with the Ravens, Beckham revealed that he didn't tear his ACL in the Super Bowl. Rather, he did it earlier in the season. But, instead of sitting out the rest of the season and undergoing surgery, OBJ decided to play through it until he couldn't anymore.
And now, right before the start of training camp, Beckham is already considering this his last season.
For a Cowboys front office that caught a lot of criticism when it came up short in their pursuit of Beckham late last season, they now can feel justified in not pulling the trigger - as CowboysSI.com reported at time, some inside The Star saw it as a red flag that he was unprepared to work out in any way upon his visit to team headquarters - and they can be relieved that a deal never came together. What would Beckham have signed for with the Cowboys? How much money? How much commitment?
Instead of signing Beckham to anything like the one-year, $15 million contract, he got with the Ravens, the Cowboys acquired Brandin Cooks via trade this offseason and will have him through the 2024 season. ... with no early retirement planned.
