Cowboys' Jalen Tolbert 'Special Moment' Coming at Seahawks?

Dallas Cowboys receiver Jalen Tolbert hopes to "continue growing" after rough rookie season.

Dallas Cowboys receiver Jalen Tolbert has made a ton of noise throughout training camp, despite an underwhelming rookie season in 2022.

With CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup all but locking up the starting receiver spots, Tolbert has been fighting for the WR4 spot since the offseason commenced.

Tolbert explained that he was standing in his own way last season, but fixed that dilemma this summer.

"I went and rebuilt my confidence, my mental, read a book that (quarterback) Dak (Precott) had bought for me and I highlighted some key points in it," Tolbert said on "Special Edition" on Friday. "From there, I really just started building the chemistry with Dak and worked on the stuff that we're gonna run on offense."

Tolbert revealed that a new member of the Cowboys was a major factor in rebuilding his confidence.

"Brandin Cooks came in and played a big part in a veteran leadership (role) for me that I've never had," Tolbert said. "Having him come to Oregon with me and work...was special. Just getting little tips from everybody, staying on the move, working and grinding is starting to pay off."

Tolbert's offseason was capped by a 17-yard touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the preseason opener. The 24-year-old said it was a "special" moment as he broke down the play.

"I knew once they called that certain play that I had the biggest opportunity to score. I just wanted to be patient, not get too hot, nor get too low, and so I ran a good route and scored," Tolbert said. "Having that first one under my belt is special and I'm looking forward to growing on it."

Now that Tolbert has hopefully found his place in the NFL, he wants "to be better than (he) was yesterday and continue to grow."

Tolbert looks to continue growing in the Cowboys second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks tonight at 9 p.m CT on NFL Network.
