Cowboys Add Speedy Pass-Rusher Adetomiwa Adebawore in New Mel Kiper NFL Mock Draft

For a roster with not many glaring needs, Mel Kiper gives the Cowboys a potential star on the defensive front in his latest mock.

The Dallas Cowboys entered the offseason as a team that did not have any major holes to fix on their roster, but rather one that could benefit from smaller additions.

Potential areas of need were a second receiver to complement CeeDee Lamb, as well as adding a running back to work with Tony Pollard following the release of Ezekiel Elliott.

As a result, they were linked to several receivers as well as star running back Bijan Robinson out of Texas with the No. 26 pick in the draft.

However, with the trade for Brandin Cooks and signing of Ronald Jones, receiver and running back might be off the table come April.

Instead, in his latest mock draft Mel Kiper has the Cowboys adding to the defensive front at No. 26 overall.

Rd. 1 No. 26 - Adetomiwa Adebawore - DE (Northwestern)

"You might remember Adebawore from his performance at the NFL combine, where he ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at 282 pounds, putting up the fastest time of any player over 280 pounds at the combine since at least 2006, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Adebawore played about 75% of his snaps at defensive end, but he could move inside at the next level and work as a 3-technique tackle.

For the Cowboys, we know defensive coordinator Dan Quinn values versatility, and Adebawore could get reps all over the line. DeMarcus Lawrence turns 31 this offseason, and they need to keep adding young players to their rotation."

The Cowboys already boast one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL, with superstar outside linebacker Micah Parsons wreaking havoc on opposing offenses with DeMarcus "Tank" Lawrence. Oh, and Dallas just re-signed Dante Fowler, too.

Adebawore put together a career year in his final season at Northwestern, recording 38 total tackles with nine tackles for loss and five sacks as well as forcing two fumbles.

His numbers might not seem overly impressive, but adding him to a defensive front featuring Micah Parsons and DeMarcus "Tank" Lawrence would make life easy for Adebawore as he transitions to the NFL.

Of course, the Cowboys could still see receiver or running back as areas of need or go in an entirely different direction once they're finally on the clock.

However, if the Cowboys value Adebawore than selecting him at No. 26 could be a move that further elevates an already elite defense.
