'Rare Air!' Cowboys' Micah Parsons Scouting Report from Dolphins' Mike McDaniel

With two All-Pro selections in as many seasons, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has quickly become one of the most-respected players in the NFL.

Whenever any team matches up against the Dallas Cowboys, containing star pass-rusher Micah Parsons is always a top priority.

In less than three full seasons, Parsons has established himself as one of the most-feared defenders in the NFL. The former Penn State star was an All-Pro selection in each of his first two seasons, notching at least 13 sacks each year. With 12.5 sacks in 14 games this season, Parsons is well on his way to his third All-Pro nod and potentially even Defensive Player of the Year, an award he is currently favored for.

With a Christmas Eve matchup against the Miami Dolphins coming up, Parsons is looking to make the holiday difficult for Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of the offense. Despite the difficulty of containing Parsons, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel raved about the Cowboys star ahead of Sunday's showdown.

“He is one of the best players in the National Football League at any position. And it’s — yeah, I don’t think it’s really debatable,” McDaniel said. “This dude is different. And the orchestration that he has with his teammates, the stuff that (coordinator Dan) Quinn does with the multiplicity of his alignments, and you can tell that not only is he unique in skillset, but you don’t play all the way across the line, and in the stack, and do all the things he does without having a true love for the game.”

Even with Parsons being such a difficult player to game plan for, McDaniel looks forward to the challenge of containing the star defender.

“He’s more fun to watch when you’re not going to play him. But that being said, I like the challenge of facing elite players like our players do. And it’s really cool to watch because you combine talent with strength, that’s rarefied air in general with the level of talent and the level of strength that he exhibits. He is a real dude, for sure.”

This marks the first time McDaniel will face Parsons and the Cowboys as coach of the Dolphins, so it will be a good benchmark for his team. At the same time, it will be a good test for Dallas as well as it looks to solve its road woes.
