Cowboys Offense Top 5? NFL.com ‘Win-Share’ Projections Revealed

The Cowboys have a loaded offense, one that is highly thought of according to NFL.com's offensive win-share projections.

Even though there are still a few months until the start of the season, it is never too early to look ahead to try and project how the season will go. … Which teams will outdo expectations, which teams will fail to meet them and everything in between.

For the Dallas Cowboys, they hope that they're in the camp of the former as they challenge the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East crown. Working in their favor, of course, is one of the NFL's best offenses spearheaded by quarterback Dak Prescott.

Just how good is the Cowboys offense? Last season they had the fourth-best scoring offense, averaging 27.5 points per game on 354.9 yards of total offense per game. Looking ahead to this season, they hope to replicate that success.

NFL.com has high hopes for the Dallas offense in 2023. So high, in fact, that it landed inside the top five of their top 10 offensive win-share projections, coming in at No. 5 overall.

You're probably wondering what exactly win-share projections are, exactly. Well, we have you covered on that.

"Remember, win share measures the ability of each player, position group and side of the ball to earn or prevent first downs, points and touchdowns," NFL.com wrote. "All rosters used to simulate the season in this exercise are the forecasted 53 through May 16."

They give the Cowboys offense a projected 7.9 win-share, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. Notably, they come in ahead of the San Francisco 49ers who are in sixth at 7.8.

There reasoning for why the Cowboys did so well in this metric was how strong their offseason was. Despite losing Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz to free agency, and the release of Ezekiel Elliott, they don't anticipate Dallas to miss a beat.

Rather, the trade for receiver Brandin Cooks, signing of running back Ronald Jones and drafting tight end Luke Schoonmaker were all moves that are expected to make up for the aforementioned losses.

And that is without mentioning Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Tony Pollard - a three-headed monster on offense that can put up points in bunches without breaking a sweat.

The Cowboys are primed once again to have one of the NFL's best offenses, with talented across the field at every position - which makes it easy to see why they're so highly ranked in offensive win-shares
