Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones: 'On-Brand' With 'Gas-Station Wine'

A photo features Jerry with two fist-fulls of something less pricy than Johnnie Walker Blue. The wine bottles appear to be from Josh Cellars. And yes, there is a very Cowboys explanation for it all.

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is worth $8 billion, and so when it comes time for a nip, he can afford whatever he wishes. Johnnie Walker Blue - which you can find for between $200 to $400 a bottle - happens to be a particular favorite.

But you can't take "the regular guy'' out of Jerry, either - and you absolutely can't take the "brand'' out of him.

This week, a fan posted on social media a photo of him posed alongside Jones at a gas station just north of the team's headquarters at The Star in Frisco.

Just met Jerry Jones at the gas station in Prosper,” wrote the fan, who in the photo is wearing a Kansas City Chiefs hat. “He even said he felt bad for (Super Bowl-losing QB Patrick) Mahomes.”

Jerry also noticed the fan's apparel and mentioned the University of North Texas, saying, "Go Mean Green.''

So beyond the fun of wondering what Jerry is doing in Prosper - again, it's north of The Star, but also where Dallas QB Dak Prescott recently purchased a home (yes, the joke is that Jones was heading over to Dak's house to work on that new contract) - many are joking about Jerry's sheer presence in this situation.

But, please note ...

*Over the years, 7-Eleven has been a Cowboys sponsor.

*Josh Cellars is presently a Cowboys sponsor, with a new bottle of "1960'' that commemorates the year the franchise was established.

*And yes, even the University of North Texas is a Cowboys sponsor. Seriously.

So it's all a bit less mysterious than it first appears. Jerry Jones, talking UNT at a 7-11 while purchasing Josh Cabernet?

It's all on-brand.
