Cowboys Ranked as 'Top-Tier' NFC Team Entering NFL Draft; Who's Dallas Chasing?

Dallas, in the eyes of NFL.com, is among the top dogs in the NFC, along with the division foe Eagles.

FRISCO - As the Philadelphia Eagles reign as NFC Conference champions, other contenders hope to build rosters that can usurp the title and compete for Super Bowl LVIII.

Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, roster hierarchy has been ranked by NFL.com and the Dallas Cowboys are among the top dogs along with their division foe Eagles. Why?

Writes NFL.com: The Seahawks and Giants saw career years from Geno Smith and Daniel Jones, respectively, with each QB earning a lucrative extension this offseason. There will be some natural suspicion with the Seahawks and Giants, especially given their big turnarounds last year. Both also play in tough divisions. Yet both clubs overcame major adversity a year ago to post impressive, nine-win seasons, each doing so despite a slew of injuries and lineup changes along the way.

And more: We give the Seahawks a slight edge between the two teams right now, given they are even more loaded with draft assets than the Lions are, with four picks in the top 52 overall, including a pair of first-rounders (Nos. 5 and 20). The Giants made a big splash trading for Darren Waller, but the Seahawks' front-seven additions might collectively have just a shade more impact overall.

The three teams ranked on top of the NFC Conference are the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Currently, San Francisco is the favorite to win the NFC and Philadelphia - led by the newly-wealthy Jalen Hurts - is the favorite to win the NFC East.

The Cowboys will continue to add to the roster in the upcoming NFL Draft. Dallas currently holds the the No. 26 pick and the opportunity to pick "best player available'' in the draft. With history on their side of making solid first-round selections, can the Cowboys continue their draft excellence?

The draft will take place at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. with the first round beginning on April 27.
