FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys have plenty to think about this time of year. With the NFL Draft just days away, owner Jerry Jones and company have been diligent with player grades and ranking position groups for their "big board" in anticipation of the 2023 NFL Draft which begins April 27.

Now, the Cowboys may be thinking ahead, as contract extensions are being discussed. CowboysSI.com broke the story last week that Dallas talks regarding CeeDee Lamb could be termed "ongoing'' and that his fifth-year option will be picked up at the deadline of Monday, May 2. And now Cowboys COO Stephen Jones, via 105.3 The Fan, is suggesting that representatives for wide receiver Lamb and cornerback Trevon Diggs extensions are "on our radar.''

“As we move forward that’ll become a bigger priority here as we move past the draft,” Jones said. “We’ve historically signed a lot of guys during that training camp period to extensions. But guys like CeeDee Lamb and Diggs are certainly on our radar in terms of guys that we’d love to have around here for another five, six years, whatever that turns out to be.”

Diggs, who is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, has shown to be one of the key pieces to the Cowboys' defense and has thrived under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

In the two seasons since Quinn replaced Mike Nolan, Diggs has 14 interceptions, including a club record-tying 11 in 2021, 111 tackles including 93 solo, and one fumble recovery in 33 games played. Diggs made the Pro Bowl in both seasons.

Dallas will exercise an option on Lamb's contract for the 2024 season - a no-brainer move. Since Lamb arrived in Dallas as the 17th overall pick in 2020, the former Sooner has 260 catches for 3,396 yards and 20 touchdowns, and assumed the role of WR1 after the departure of Amari Cooper via trade last offseason.
