It was the second of three preseason games for the Dallas Cowboys, and they continued the exhibition season by visiting the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night at Lumen Field. ... dropping a 22-14 decision.

Last week the Cowboys lost to an aggressive Jacksonville Jaguars team 28-23 in the first exhibition game of the summer.

The Cowboys hosted the Jaguars at AT&T Stadium last Saturday and fell as Jags starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence saw early preseason action. Lawrence did not look in good form early, however, as he was picked off on the first drive of the game.

Cowboys presumed third-string quarterback Will Grier threw two touchdown passes in a losing effort. Starter Dak Prescott was on the sideline the entire game and not even in shoulder pads.

The Cowboys didn't play any projected starters on offense in coach Mike McCarthy's return to play-calling. The closest thing was right guard Josh Ball, who was filling in for Zack Martin while the six-time All-Pro held out in a contract dispute. Martin has since signed but isn't expected to play on Saturday. ... as Dallas is likely to sit around two dozen front-line guys, with Grier doing most of the QB work.

Seattle quarterback Drew Lock - playing in his first-ever game at Lumen Field - threw for two touchdown strikes en route to a 24-13 win over the Vikings. Most of the Seahawks starters, including starting signal-caller Geno Smith, watched from the sidelines as Lock is the No. 2 guy there ... and will be the QB of record on Saturday.

Live game updates will appear here after kickoff.

KICKOFF ...

Cooper Rush is starting for Cowboys. So as played no Dak Prescott tonight at QB. ... Rush comes in after the Dallas defense - made up of second-stringers - got a third-and-short stop on the Seattle offense, led by semi-surprise starter Geno Smith ...

Jalen Tolbert makes a big grab on third down. ... as that "second-year jump'' thing continues to come true ...

Down goes Rush as Seattle's Jarran Reed gets to him in the backfield for a 10-yard loss and Cowboys will punt.

Cowboys rookie DeMarvion Overshown makes a good play on defense against a Seahawks team that sticks with Geno and company for another series ... but Overshown in now is down with an apparent left knee injury.

UPDATE: Overshown, the promising rookie from Texas, was checked out on the field by trainers but is now walking off under his own power. Nevertheless, there are concerns here as Overshown officially has a left knee injury and is out for the game. ... and may be out for the year.

Sam Williams gets Geno Smith for a four-yard sack to force Myers coming in for a really long field goal... and it's GOOD from 57 yards. Seattle has the lead, 3-0, with seconds left in the first quarter.

Rico Dowdle is the featured guy on a TD drive as he has 10 rushing yards, wins in pass protection and gets a six-yard receiving score via the Cooper Rush throw to cap off the possession. Dallas 7, Seattle 3 with 11:31 to go in Q2.

Seattle scores two rushing TDs in the second quarter, with DeeJay Dallas and SaRoderick Thompson Jr. each running for scores to put the Seahawks up 17-7 with 2:35 left in the first half.

Deuce is Loose! Rookie running back Deuce Vaughn has made an appearance in the second half ... and is again making an impression on a spinning TD run that closes the score to Seattle 17, Dallas 14 as the midway point of the third quarter approaches.

The Seahawks have themselves a five-point fourth quarter - a field goal and a safety (on a blocked punt) - and with two minutes left are up 22-14. ... and when third-string QB Will Grier gets sacked on a desperation fourth-down try, the game is over, final score Seattle 22, Dallas 14.
