'The Real Champions': Aikman, Prescott Team Up For Children's Cancer

'The real champions': Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott team up for the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala, which is expected to raise more than $2 million.

FRISCO - Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman and reigning NFL Man of the Year Dak Prescott will team up this spring for the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala, which is expected to raise more than $2 million to advancing pediatric cancer research and care.

Sports stars, celebrities and generous philanthropists will band together for 34th year for the nonprofit’s signature fundraiser, making “A Knight to Remember" at the Hilton Anatole Dallas on Friday, April 19. The event promises an evening of hope and inspiration.

“The Children’s Cancer Fund Gala is the best event of the year and the kids involved have made a lasting impact on my life,” said Honorary Co-Chair Troy Aikman. “The kids are amazing and inspirational because of their fight and courage. I will come back every year, with the hope that a cure will soon be found.”

It is rare that Prescott and Aikman are not the star of the show. However, the evening will surely be made unforgettable by the awe-inspiring fashion show starring 23 pediatric cancer patients. The supermodels, ranging in ages from 5-to-17 years old, will walk the runway showcasing their bravery, escorted by celebrities.

Last year, former Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott strutted with one cancer patient, Robert Rodriguez, and the two struck the 'feed me' pose at the end of the runway.

In 2021, Cowboys legend Roger Staubach officially passed on his honor as voluntary Children's Cancer Fund Gala Honorary Chair to Prescott. Aikman is celebrating his 25th anniversary supporting the cause.

“These kids and their families are the real champions,” said Honorary Co-Chair Prescott. “I believe together we can make a difference in the battle against childhood cancer. In my heart, I know the Children’s Cancer Fund Gala and these inspirational kids are changing people’s futures.”

Children’s Cancer Fund was founded in 1982 by a coalition of parents whose children were receiving cancer therapy at Children’s HealthSM. Each year, CCF raises millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research and Child Life services, creating four additional endowments for Children’s Health.

One of the nation’s leading fundraising groups supporting childhood cancers, CCF has donated $13 million to fund pediatric cancer research and treatment programs.

This week, Prescott and the NFC East Champion Cowboys welcome the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers for a Wild Card matchup at AT&T Stadium, where Dallas is a perfect 8-0 this season.
