Eagles Mock Draft: Philly Trades Down Twice, Lands DL Help & Jahmyr Gibbs

The Philadelphia Eagles have not selected a running back in the first round under general manager Howie Roseman. Will that streak continue?

After general manager Howie Roseman joked (maybe?) about having just two picks for next year's NFL Draft during his most recent press conference, the talk of the Philadelphia Eagles being potential trade-up candidates certainly became more interesting.

With two picks for Day 1 of the draft this year, one inside the top-10 at No. 10 overall and the No. 30 pick, the Eagles could look to trade down and accumulate more picks in the process. That is what transpired in a recent NFL.com mock draft.

With both Texas running back Bijan Robinson and Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter off the board just two picks before the Eagles at 10th overall, NFL Network has them trading the pick to the Minnesota Vikings. In exchange for giving up their first pick of the night, the Eagles receive the 23rd pick, the No. 87 pick, and a first-rounder for next year from Minnesota.

After moving down 13 spots, the Eagles then take Northwestern defensive end Adetomiwa Adebawore. The mock cites Adebawore's inside-out versatility as a reason the Eagles would take him, hoping to develop him into a player like Brandon Graham.

Adebawore was the third-best interior defensive line prospect according to Eagles Today's rankings. The Northwestern product was ranked below only Carter and Calijah Kancey.

Adebawore would then prove to be the only Day 1 selection by the Eagles as another mock trade would see them also ship off the No. 30 overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for No. 38, No. 109, and a 2024 fourth-rounder.

Philly would use that pick to check another box off its off-season wish list, selecting Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Moving back into the second round and picking a running back would continue Roseman's record of not targeting that position in the first-round while also landing the Eagles a Day 1-caliber back in Gibbs.

While NFL.com's mock wouldn't be as exciting for Eagle fans who want to see them trade up or even make two first-round picks, they still filled needs and added more draft capital.
