Eagles' Howie Roseman Reveals How TE Albert Okwuegbunam Has 'Unique Ability'
It may not have looked like much when the Philadelphia Eagles swapped picks with the Denver Broncos to acquire tight end Albert Okwuegbunam on Aug. 29, but he has significant upside.
“He has a unique ability to uncover, he has lower body flexibility, he has speed, he has length. He has all the tools in his body,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said.
Through three seasons, Okwuegbunam has only had 54 catches for 546 yards and four touchdowns, but in his final preseason game with the Broncos, he reminded onlookers why he was a fourth-round pick back in 2020.

Playing like his NFL career depended on it, Okwuegbunam recorded seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown, flashing the speed that allowed him to run a sub-4.5 40-yard dash in the NFL Combine three years ago.
Although things didn’t work out in Denver, the good news is that Okwuegbunam is now with an organization that’s proven itself more than capable of developing tight ends over the past decade.
Going back to 2013, Philadelphia has helped create stars at the position. From Zach Ertz to Dallas Goedert, the Eagles have seamlessly transitioned from one successful tight end to another. Okwuegbunam is the fastest of the bunch, meaning that chunk plays could be on the horizon for him in the near future.
How long it will take for Albert O to get comfortable in the new offense remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: if any team can help the former Mile High tight end reach his sky-high potential, it’s Philadelphia, as the Eagles aim to help him spread his wings and soar to new heights.
