On Thursday, fans got their first look at the updated threads that their team will debut this fall. The Falcons' digital team released this on social media.

"The new uniforms honor the team’s rich history while also reflecting excitement for the future," the team said in their official announcement.

The Falcons will go with a simple, modern look. Black helmet with a white facemask. The red jersey with white numbering will serve as the new home uniform, and it is intended to symbolize "passion, intensity, and swagger; qualities that have long been associated with Falcons football and a distinctive connection to Atlanta."

On the road, the Falcons will pair a white jersey with red numbering and either black or white pants. Both with feature "Atlanta" across the front.

For both jersey combinations, "Dirty Birds" can be found inside the collar. The pants feature striping inspired by the original 1966 Falcons design, accentuated by a distinctive silver layer. The helmets retain the iconic black low-gloss shell, now finished with a silver facemask and an updated front bumper featuring the “winged ATL,” the team’s official secondary mark

“Our goal was to create a uniform that lasts, one that reflects the city, the team, and our future,” said Shannon Joyner, vice president and chief marketing officer of the Atlanta Falcons. “Every detail was designed to feel authentic to our DNA and feels unmistakably Falcons the moment you put it on.”

The old uniforms with the ‘ATL’ on the front and a rather bland look are officially a thing of the past. The team’s alternate uniforms, which have been publicly celebrated whenever they are played in, have been very successful. The Falcons are 16-3 since 2009 when they have donned those popular red helmets, with several wins coming in dramatic fashion.

Atlanta has been using its most recent uniform design since the franchise unveiled it in 2020, but fans never seemed to take to it. That design was the first major overhaul for the franchise since 2003, which came just two years after Arthur Blank purchased the team in 2001.

They confirmed that the 1966-inspired throwback uniforms featuring a red helmet, black jersey, white pants, and tri-color (red, black, white) socks will be worn.

The fresh look will match a revamped franchise at Flowery Branch. General Ian Cunningham has already been hard at work putting together a roster that will feature 20-25 new players with the chance to make the roster this summer. Head coach Kevin Stefanski will get his first opportunity to meet with his team next week.

After this most recent announcement, it is clear that the team will be virtually unrecognizable, both on the field, in the coach’s booth, and on the sidelines. The Falcons will be hoping this new look will be on display in the postseason this time next year, meaning they will have snapped an eight-year playoff drought.
