New York Giants Week 6 Bold Predictions

The Giants have an uphill battle on Sunday night when they face the Buffalo Bills. But here are a few things that, with a little luck, might unfold in their favor.

The New York Giants visit the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. While not many are predicting a Giants win, given how they've played, here are some bold predictions that could have a chance of occurring.

Darren Waller scores first touchdown as a Giant

Despite the rough start by the offense, tight end Darren Waller has been the best receiver on the team in terms of receptions (23), receiving yards (239), and receiving yards per game (47.8). But the one stat missing from Waller in the first five games of the season is a touchdown, which he'll look to get this weekend.

The Bills defense won’t make it easy. Buffalo is eighth in the league in passing yards allowed per game (191.2) and is eighth in red zone defense (46.67 percent). But despite such, if Waller is a featured part of the offense this week, there is still the chance he records his first touchdown as a Giant.

Bills Won't Cover the Spread (-14.5)

The odds makers haven't favored the Giants much this year, their lack of faith rewarded when it has come to the point spread. And speaking of which, it seems that the Giants are becoming bigger and bigger underdogs each passing week, their latest odds being +14.5.

Thus far, the Giants have been embarrassed, including a 40-0 pounding to the Dallas Cowboys and a 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Their four losses have all been by at least two scores.

They're going against a Bills offense, which includes quarterback Josh Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs is sixth in the NFL with 520 receiving yards and is tied for the league lead with five receiving touchdowns.

If the Giants can slow down the Allen-Diggs connection--cornerback Adoree' Jackson will probably draw that assignment--that would go a long way toward keeping the Bills from blowing the game wide open.

To be clear, the Giants probably won't win this game. But if they can slow down Diggs, they might just be able to keep it closer than the point spread indicates it will be.

Giants score first first-half offensive TD this year

In five games played, the Giants have yet to score an offensive touchdown in the first half of the regular season and have been outscored 94-19 in the game's first 30 minutes. That needs to change.

This could end if the Giants can string together drives and cut down on the mistakes that have thwarted their efforts. And if the Giants get Saquon Barkley back--he figures to be questionable on the final injury report--that would help, as the Bills run defense currently ranks 25th in rushing yards allowed per game (134.0) and 31st in rushing yards allowed per play (5.83).

Wan’Dale Robinson finishes as Giants' receiving yardage leader

The Giants offense is 31st in the league in passing yards per game (163.0). Considering the issues on the offensive line, the Giants' passing game hasn't been able to get untracked.

While we think tight end Darren Waller will be a big part of this week's game plan, we're picking receiver Wan’Dale Robinson to finish as the Giants' receiving yardage leader.

Robinson, who’s caught 14 of his 17 targets for just 79 yards, has averaged 26.3 in the three games he’s played, which is third on the team. But he's averaging 1.22 yards per route run, which leads the receivers.

Last week, Robinson caught five of six passes for 18 yards, his pass targets representing 20 percent of the passing target distribution. If he can stay on the field, Robinson, who has been targeted six times in his last two games, could put up some numbers.
