Tiki Barber Hopes Saquon Barkley Avoids This NFC East Team

Barber doesn't want to see Saquon Barkley take his talents to arguably the Giants most hated division rivals.

Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber, now a WFAN radio host, would prefer to see Saquon Barkley stay with the Giants in an ideal world.

But if Barkley were to leave the Giants--and that's certainly a possibility--Barber admitted that he'd have an issue if Brkley took his talents down I-95 to the Philadelphia Eagles

“I still want him here,” Barber said on his show with Evan Roberts Thursday. “The last thing I want him to do is go anywhere else. But if he goes to Philadelphia, I’m not even saying his name. I might not say his name again.”

Roberts countered by saying that Barkley shouldn't consider the Cowboys or Eagles, adding that he believed Barkley wouldn't be welcomed back in New York if he went to a rival.

Ultimately, it's all about business, which means Barkley will likely go where he gets the fairest deal if the Giants undercut him in the bidding process.

Not that it would be easy for Barkley to up and leave the Giants. In the past, the former Penn State star has spoken about his Giants legacy and how it's important to him, so it's unclear if he would even consider moving to a division rival.

At the same time, Barkley needs to do what's financially best for him and his family, as this could very well be his last opportunity to get a nice football-related payday as a free agent before his career enters the back nine.

The Giants and Barkley's agent, Ed Berry of CAA, have reportedly held at least one initial meeting to get a preliminary sense of each side's position but, according to the New York Post, have not exchanged offers.

WIP Sports Radio Host Howard Eskin has reported that the Eagles are contemplating offering Barkley a deal that would not be fully guaranteed.

Barkley, who wasn't tagged by the team earlier this week, can begin speaking with teams on March 11. However, he cannot sign a new deal with another team until the official start of free agency, which is 4:01 p.m. ET on March 13.
