Giants Re-Sign QB Jacob Eason to Practice Squad

New York begins to look ahead to the off-season by adding depth at quarterback.

With the New York Giants season ending this weekend, the team has signed quarterback Jacob Eason to its practice squad.

Eason was with the Giants earlier this year when New York had Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor on injured reserve. With Taylor now active again, the team had cut Eason from the practice squad but retained Matt Barkley, who the Jaguars recently poached after Trevor Lawrence was injured.

Taylor has been listed as a limited participant on the Giatns' injury report this week due to a back issue.

Eason will likely be signed to a reserve/futures contract the day after the Giants' 2023 season concludes. He will have a chance to go through the off-season learning the team's system and will be able to contribute in the spring until

The Colts drafted Eason in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Washington. He began his college career at Georgia, where he spent the first two seasons of his three-year career, before transferring to Washington after the 2017 season.

In his three-year college career, Eason completed 468 out of 782 passes (59.8 percent) for 5,590 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions.

The 6-foot-6, 231-pound Eason has appeared in just two NFL games, one for the Colts in 2021 and one for the Panthers in 2022. He is five of ten for 84 yards and two interceptions in his two pro outings.
