Giants Receiver Jalin Hyatt Aiming to Contribute More Next Season

New York Giants WR Jalin Hyatt entered the league with more buzz around him than most third-round draft picks. He plans to improve upon his rookie season.

The New York Giants drafted rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt in the third round of last year's NFL Draft from the University of Tennessee. Hyatt entered the league with much more attention on him than most third-round wide receivers, but such is the case when a player with Hyatt's potential gets drafted to a receiver-needy team in a market like the one the Giants play in.

Hyatt is looking forward to his first offseason as a professional as a time to reset and improve as a player.

"I just want to keep getting better and keep grinding," Hyatt said as the team packed up its belongings a day after its 2023 regular season ended. "Stay off my feet a little bit at the beginning of this offseason but right back to the grind after that. I can't wait."

Hyatt experienced the highs and lows that are typical for most rookies in the National Football League. His first season in the NFL has given him the confidence he needs for a successful second season.

"A lot more confident, and that just goes by experiencing games," Hyatt said. "I feel like I know, fully this playbook and fully what I've got to do. At the beginning, I didn't really know, starting off. Keep getting better. That's the mindset I have for myself. I have high expectations, and it starts with the work in the offseason. That starts now."

"I definitely want to contribute more, that's for sure. I felt like I did alright this year, but I left some plays out there that I wish I had back. I think the expectations for next year for myself are to be better and get better, be more consistent, get open more, and make more plays when they come to me. That's my expectation."

Even though he played in the toughest conference in college football, Hyatt quickly learned that the NFL is significantly different from college.

"The biggest thing I learned is that it's a week-in, week-out business," Hyatt said. "You've got to be consistent. The elite guys, that's how they stay elite, is that they're consistent. I felt like I showed some consistency, but I want to show more. To do that, you have to make plays, and that just goes by your opportunities. So, wherever my opportunities come next year, I want to make the most of them."

After finishing his first professional season with 23 receptions for 373 yards, Hyatt will now enter his first full offseason and second season in the NFL. Time will tell if Hyatt is able to take the next step toward being a long-term offensive threat for the Giants' offense moving forward.
