Saquon Barkley Defends Yelling at Fan After Daniel Jones Injured Neck vs. Dolphins

In this story:
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley can tolerate quite a lot from the fans when it comes to criticism, but when it comes to the taunting of an injured teammate, that's where the line is drawn.
Barkley, who was caught on video barking back at an unseen party that was in the stands for last week's Giants game at Miami, said he was defending quarterback Daniel Jones, who had just gone into the medical tent following a sack by Andrew Van Ginkel that resulted in the quarterback suffering a neck injury that may keep him out at least this week if not longer.

However, one fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) seemed to mistake Barkley's reaction as him picking a fight with the fans in attendance who were unhappy with the performance the Giants delivered in the loss to the Dolphins.
Barkley, who just days before had publicly advised offensive tackle Evan Neal, who found himself caught in a verbal war with fans after he took aim at those who booed the team and its players, to refrain from picking fights with the fans, then took to his own social media account to set the record straight.
Stop reaching and trying to make it a me vs fans thing I’m not gonna just sit there and not say anything while you talk crazy to 8 after he just got hurt… buddy knew he was in the wrong https://t.co/YvHYAtFdKn

On Thursday, Barkley made it clear that while he understands fans have a right to express unhappiness with the product on the field, there's no room to go after an injured player.
"When (Daniel Jones), someone who would give his freaking all for this franchise and this city and would go out there and risk it every single day and do whatever he can to bring a Super Bowl to this city and this organization and he just hurt his neck and he’s sitting in a blue tent getting check on for his neck and you’ve got a fan just (expletive) him, that just doesn’t sit well with me," Barkley said.
"We’ve got to give them a product to be happy about, so go ahead and boo, go ahead and cheer. That’s part of the game, but have sympathy at the same time," Barkley said. "He’s a human being, and out of all people, it shouldn’t be eight (Jones)."
