(From Ellen C.) I've been reading positive articles about Gervarrius Owens. What kind of impact do you think he will make in his Rookie year?
Thanks for the question, Ellen. I think with a good camp, it's very possible that Owens can step into some of the sub-packages. I also think he's going to have to make his living on special teams, as all rookies do. I need to see practices in pads, and then I can give you a little more on how he's coming along (as well as the rest of his teammates). That will be here before you know it!
(From Kevin C.) While reading articles about Giants players, I often see ratings and scores from PFF or other sites that don't match up with my impression of watching them play. I'm skeptical that these scores actually provide accurate assessments of on-the-field performance because I trust my own eyes, having watched NFL football for many years. I wonder how you, as a professional football journalist, view these scores and how you weigh their usefulness and accuracy in evaluating a player.
Thanks for the question, Kevin. I have often said that I find a good amount of PFF's raw data useful. That said, I question their grades because I believe them to be subjective. I mean, how is it they know what the call was to where they can accurately assign who gave up a sack or blew a coverage? To me, grades are subjective--what criteria are you using? If a linebacker has 20 tackles but 15 of them are made beyond the second level, does he still deserve a good grade?
Like you, I prefer to use my eyes whenever possible, and then if I see something that I'm not sure about, go to the player or coach in question to confirm if what I saw and interpreted is accurate. You don't always get a straight answer, but if you don't ask, you'll never know, right?
Hey Nimar. I think there is a pretty high chance Barkley signs on or around July 17. If you're asking me if he will sign in the next four weeks, then no. But a day or two before? That I could see.
#askPtrain any chance someone starts over Glowinsky at RG if he's healthy?
— Reynolds (@MarkRey97989402) June 16, 2023
I highly doubt it, Mark. Glowinksi is by far the most experienced lineman they have. Hopefully, an improved Evan Neal will help Glowinski this coming year. Now could I maybe see something happening later int he season? Perhaps. But that would take for these younger bucks to really step up to the plate.
Who is the one Giants offensive weapon that you think could surprisingly overachieve this year? #askPTrain

Very good question. I'm going to say Jamison Crowder. I don't think a lot of people believe he's going to have a big role in the offense, but I could see him actually surprising a few people and having some sold production for them in the coming season.
