Giants Add Edge Rusher Benton Whitley to 53-man Roster

In this story:
The New York Giants have signed outside linebacker Benton Whitley from the Vikings practice squad to their 53-man roster as part of a flurry of moves made to the main roster and practice squad.
Whitley played his college ball at Holy Cross for five seasons, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted to players due to the COVID pandemic. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Rams in 2022 but did not make the roster; instead, he landed on their practice squad.
The Chiefs signed Whitley off the Rams' practice squad on September 21, 2022. He was waived on October 12 and then signed to Kansas City's practice squad. Whitley was then signed by the Vikings to the 53-man roster but lasted until November 19 before being waived and then signed to the Vikings practice squad.
Whitley, 6-foot-3 and 260 pounds, is credited for having been active for one NFL game earlier this year with the Vikings in their game against the Bucs. He did not record any stats in that appearance.
In other transaction news, the Giants terminated the practice squad contract of running back Hassan Hall and signed running back Deon Jackson and offensive tackle Joshua Miles, both of whom were waived from the 53-man roster on Monday, to the practice squad.
The Giants still have one spot open on their 53-man roster. Running backs Gary Brightwell and Jashaun Corbin, and offensive tackle Matt Peart are all eligible to be designated for return from IR and could be candidates to fill that spot.
So, too, could kicker Randy Bullock, on whom the team used its final practice squad elevation last weekend.
