Giants Sign Former Packers Kicker Mason Crosby

The New York Giants are signing veteran kicker Mason Crosby to be their kicker on Monday when the team visits the Philadelphia Eagles.

Crosby, 6-foot-1, 207 pounds, had auditioned for the Giants kicker role several weeks ago after it was determined that Graham Gano would need season-ending knee surgery.

The team instead went with Randy Bullock, initially signed to their practice squad before ultimately being promoted to the 53-man roster after his three elevations were used up, and youngster Cade York, whom they signed off the Titans practice squad.

Bullock was placed on injured reserve this week after suffering a hamstring injury last week against the Saints. York, who was supposed to be the kicker, is headed to practice squad IR after suffering a leg injury in practice this week.

Crosby was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Packers in 2007, with whom he spent his entire career until last season. In 258 games played, Crosby has converted 81.4 percent of his field goal attempts (395 of 485) and 97.3 percent of his PATs (733 of 753).

He had his best season in 2020 for the Packers, converting all 16 field goal attempts. Crosby has a 36.9 percent career touchback rate on kickoffs. He was also the league's leading scorer in 2007, his rookie campaign, with 141 points.

When Crosby, who was signed to the Giants' practice squad, attempts his first field goal for the Giants, this will become the first season in Giants history in which four different players have handled that duty.
