New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, currently sidelined with a neck injury that will force him out of a third straight game this weekend, is eyeing a return by Week 10, the Giants' road game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefer reports there is a chance Jones could be ready for next week's road game against the Las Vegas Raiders but adds that scenario isn't likely given Jones hasn't been cleared for contact just yet.

The Giants have resisted placing Jones, injured in Week 5 when he was sacked by Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, on injured reserve. Head coach Brian Daboll has said in the past that Jones's season is not over, and Jones himself spoke about his confidence in returning from this injury based on how others have come back from a similar type of injury.

Why Daniel Jones is Confident He'll Be Able to Return from Neck Injury

However, Daboll raised a few eyebrows this week when, after having Joens listed as questionable the week prior, he declared the quarterback out of Sunday's game against the Jets right away.

Daboll also backed off making predictions about when Jones might return, noting that he doesn't have a crystal ball.

Jones has seen an increase in his practice reps the last two weeks, as he's been tasked with running the scout team, according to DAboll. "He’s throwing. He feels better every day. He’s done a good job here with the things that he can do out here on the practice field. Take it one day at a time, but he’s getting closer."

Tyrod Taylor will get his third straight start for the Giants.

"He's a pro, he’s done this a long time, he's played in a lot of games," DAboll said of Taylor. "He studies, approaches the game the right way, has good leadership about him. Has gotten the ball out, giving our guys a chance to make plays on the ball. He’s done a nice job."
