New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been declared out for Sunday's game against the New York Jets by head coach Brian Daboll.

Jones, who has been limited in practice the last two weeks, was listed as questionable last week leading into the team's game against the Commanders. However, given that he didn't take any of the full team reps, all signs pointed to him missing his second straight game since injuring his neck against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5.

Earlier this week, during his regular spot on the Up & Adams show, Jones revealed he still hadn't been cleared for contact. That didn't change when the team returned to work on Wednesday.

"I feel good, and from a pain level, I feel good. I don’t have any pain, and it’s just passing a couple more tests," Jones told reporters this week, adding his status was "kind of a week-to-week thing" regarding his rehab.

Why Daniel Jones is Confident He'll Be Able to Return from Neck Injury

Jones, whomDaboll revealed has been taking scout team reps this week, also expressed optimism that he'd be able to return from his injury, noting that other players have had a similar type of injury and have been able to return from it.

Daboll, meanwhile, changed course regarding answers about when Jones might return, telling reporters on Friday that he couldn't say for sure when Jones would be able to return to action this season other than to say they would see where the quarterback is next week in terms of his rehab progress.

Daboll has also said that when Jones is cleared to return, he will regain his starting job.

In addition to Jones, running back Gary Brightwell has been ruled out of Sunday's game.
