New York Giants rookie cornerback Deonte Banks expressed regret over an NSFW social media post that went viral in which he taunted the Washington Commanders and receiver Terry McLaurin after last Sunday's 31-19 Giants win.

Banks, who grew up in Maryland as a Commanders fan, sounded salty over the Commanders' decision to pass over him for cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in this year's draft.

“They could’ve came and got me at 16, and they didn’t,” Banks said. “Now I’m 2-0 against you bum-a-- boys. [Bleep] the Commanders. They think they slick. They gonna see me two times a year until the end of my career. Shoulda came and got me.”

Banks then took aim at Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin, who burned him in the first meeting but whom Banks kept under control in this one to the tune of five receptions for 43 yards.

“Did 17 play today? That’s all I want to know,” Banks said.

"As soon as it came out, I was like, ‘I didn’t even mean to do all of that.’ That’s not what really what I really meant to do," Banks told reporters Wednesday.

When asked if he was hurt over Washington's passing over him, Banks said, "I wouldn’t say it genuinely hurt me, but like you’re sitting there, kind of waiting, just have to wait longer, that’s all. I wouldn’t say anything about it hurting me."

Head coach Brian Daboll predictably declined to go into detail over his discussion with Banks about the outburst, but he said, "Yeah, we don’t want to do that."

"It was just a bad decision on my part," Banks acknowledged, refusing to detail what Daboll told him. "He always talks about just being a real professional on my end.

"It was just a big road, division win. I just got a little carried away with the trash-talk a little bit; that’s on me," Banks said.
