NFL Predictions: Week 1's Winners and Losers

The 2023 NFL season is here. In a few short hours, the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions will kick off and the wait for the season will come to its much-anticipated end.

To keep track of how we see the NFL this year, we will be doing weekly win-loss predictions, tracking our progress as the year goes on.

Lions vs. Chiefs

Winner: Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is automatic in Week 1 games. He makes it happen with a banged-up Travis Kelce and without Chris Jones.

Jaguars vs. Colts

Winner: Jaguars

The Jaguars' path to their second AFC South title in as many years starts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Trevor Lawrence vs. Gus Bradley should be a mismatch.

Panthers vs. Falcons

Winner: Falcons

This is a tough one because I am not on the Falcons bandwagon, but they should find some success vs. a rookie quarterback making his first start.

Texans vs. Ravens

Winner: Ravens

The Texans have to feed a rookie quarterback to the Ravens' defense. Enough said.

Bengals vs. Browns

Winner: Bengals

The Browns are a trendy pick this offseason, but the Bengals still have the better quarterback, weapons, and defense.

Buccaneers vs. Vikings

Winner: Vikings

Tampa Bay is low on my list of watch-ability this year. Vikings should take care of business.

Titans vs. Saints

Winner: Titans

This should be the slop game of the week, which is a game the Titans usually manage to win.

49ers vs. Steelers

Winner: 49ers

This could be closer than people think, but I still have the 49ers winning based on the strength of their defensive line.

Cardinals vs. Commanders

Winner: Commanders

The Commanders win a game here that will likely be much closer than it should be.

Packers vs. Bears

Winner: Packers

I was a huge Justin Fields fan in 2021, but he hasn't figured it out as a passer yet. Until he does, they will be easy to pick against.

Raiders vs. Broncos

Winner: Broncos

The Raiders seem like a zombie franchise right now, and Sean Payton's schtick likely won't grow old until later in the year.

Dolphins vs. Chargers

Winner: Dolphins

This should be one of the best games of the week. I will go with Miami, opting for their offense to give Brandon Staley some issues.

Eagles vs. Patriots

Winner: Eagles

The vibes around the Patriots are just ... meh. The Eagles have one of the NFL's best rosters and should do what they need to do this week.

Rams vs. Seahawks

Winner: Seahawks

The Rams have a handful of players who would start for most 32 teams, and one of them isn't playing in Week 1.

Cowboys vs. Giants

Winner: Cowboys

I almost picked the Giants here, but the Cowboys should have enough offensive firepower to outpace them.

Bills vs. Jets

Winner: Jets

Aaron Rodgers lighting up a divisional opponent on prime-time in his first game as a New York Jet just seems right, even with a bad offensive line.
