The Jacksonville Jaguars thought they had ascended to the NFL's elite.

On Sunday, they faced reality.

Riding a five-game winning streak after the bye week, the Jaguars brought a 6-2 record into Week 10 and hoped to use Sunday's contest vs. the San Francisco 49ers as a chance to show how far they have come.

Instead, the Jaguars have to come to grips with how far they are, losing 34-3 in the team's worst home loss since 2019.

Jacksonville's offense got to a less-than-ideal start, with the unit going three-and-out to start the game after Lawrence was sacked on third down by Arik Armstead.

The 49ers' offense found no problems, however, taking just four plays to march 57 yards thanks to a 29-yard catch by a wide-open George Kittle and a 13-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to Brandon Aiyuk in a crowded area fulls of defenders and receivers.

Jacksonville's next drive brought more of the same problems. A false start by Jamal Agnew set up a 3rd-and-10, which was then followed by another third-down sack and punt.

A 21-yard Purdy-to-Aiyuk connection helped the 49ers move the ball into scoring range on the next drive, though Foye Oluokun's first sack of the season came on third-down and forced a 49-yard field goal, bringing the score to 10-0.

The Jaguars offense finally crossed midfield thanks to a 16-yard run from Travis Etienne that helped them cross midfield, but the Jaguars then saw a failed trick play from Christian Kirk to Etienne fall incomplete despite a wide-open Etienne. Then, the next play saw Nick Bosa and Chase Young combine for a strip-sack.

The Jaguars' defense managed to get them off the field without any more points allowed, with Josh Allen drawing a hold and Travon Walker recording a quarterabck hit to force a punt.

The Jaguars then saw their offense finally wake up, picking up four first downs to get the ball down to the 19-yard line before a third-down throw to Ridley in the end-zone fell incomplete and forced a 37-yard Brandon McManus field goal, making it a 10-3 ball-game.

The second half was immediately a bad omen, however, with Purdy somehow delivering a pass in a muddied pocket to George Kittle for a 66-yard touchdown with Devin Lloyd in coverage to make it 20-3.

Shortly after, Lawrence ended a sloppy drive with an interception that went off of Tank Bigsby's hands on 3rd-and-1, their second turnover in 49ers' territory.

After the Jaguars' defense forced another punt, the Jaguars moved the ball to the 49ers' 10 thanks to a drawn pass interference on Calvin Ridley and then a 39-yard completion to Kirk.

Then, though, the Jaguars' turnover luck continued to strike them. With the Jaguars within range of making it a 10-point game, Kirk fumbled on a short reception, giving the ball up for the third time for the offense.

The next drive was capped off with a 23-yard Deebo Samuel touchdown run after the 49ers ripped off several long plays in succession to put the nail in the Jaguars' coffin with a 27-3 deficit.

Shortly after, Lawrence had his third turnover (and the offense's fourth) of the day on an interception by Fred Wagner with the 49ers then answering with a wide-open touchdown pass from Purdy to Kyle Juszczyk.
