After 51 consecutive starts, Jacksonville Jaguars star cornerback Jalen Ramsey missed his first-ever NFL game against the Denver Broncos in the team's week 4 26-24 victory due to a back injury. Ramsey sustained the injury in Jacksonville's week 3 20-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.

- “Got to the stadium pretty early. I always go on the late bus usually. I went on the early bus so I could go speak to the team and speak with the doctors again, and the decision was made three or four hours before the game that I wouldn’t play, but I would still go out there and support them and do everything to be a good teammate.”
- “My body is banged up. My back is being extremely tight and I have been having back issues. It’s something I’ve had to deal with over the course of my NFL career. And at times I’ve played through extreme pain or not practiced for weeks and tried to go out there and play.”
- “I wasn’t able to go out there and put the product on the field that would have been beneficial for me or my teammates. Going back to the Thursday night game we had against the Titans, I tweaked it and I was having pretty bad back spams.”
- “The next few days, I was getting treatment dang near around the clock. Then I got sick, had like the day-fly or whatever it may have been, the bug I had for about 24-hours, from Sunday through Monday.“
- “And that didn’t help. Because you know, when you get sick and you have a cold and you have a temperature, then you have aches all around your body. So that just didn’t help at all — it didn’t help the cause with my back.”
- “Then I was getting treatment. On Wednesday night I flew to Nashville so I could be there for the birth of my daughter — just never really being able to rest and recover and rehab like I needed to. It put me in a state that couldn’t do it, really.”
- “It was tough but it was still good to be out there and support my teammates, and see them get a big win. Of course I wish I was out there, but it wasn’t the best decision for myself or the team. At the end of the day, that win is all that matters, so they came away with that win
Ramsey has missed practice all of this week with the back injury. We will see what head coach Doug Marrone says about his game status for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers later today.
