Jaguars Restructure Foley Fatukasi To Create $5.9M in Cap Space

The Jacksonville Jaguars created nearly $6 million in cap space by adding void years to Foley Fatukasi's contract.

After a string of restructured contracts earlier this offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars continued to clear cap space on Thursday by restructuring defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi's contract.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the move will create $5.9 million in cap space.F

Fatukasi is now the fifth player the Jaguars have restructured this offseason, continuing the streak of Jacksonville restructuring their 2022 free agent signings. The other four players restructured -- linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, wide receiver Christian Kirk, wide receiver Zay Jones, and guard Brandon Scherff -- were all signings last March, along with Fatukasi.

“The benefits are you get a chance to keep a lot of good football players. At some point, most teams in the league have had to do that," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"If you look, I think there’s only one team that hasn’t pushed any money out into future years. You’ve just got to be very diligent in the decisions that you make and who you make those decisions for.”

In addition, the Jaguars also extended Roy Robertson-Harris and have re-signed internal free agents such as Andrew Wingard, Tre Herndon, Tevaughn Campbell, JaMycal Hasty, C.J. Beathard, and Adam Gotsis.

"Again, we’re trying to keep the core together, and the core is not just frontline players. It’s guys at every level of the 53," Baalke said.

"Every guy on that team, when you’re talking about 53 players, every one of those players is important. C.J. and JaMycal are two guys that are key guys in that locker room. They’re key contributors not only on the field but in the community, within the leadership of the team, so there’s a lot of things that go into that, but we’re glad that they’re aboard for another two years, we’ve got a lot more work to do, as you know.”
