Value signings are the cream of the crop in NFL free agency, and defensive lineman Michael Dogbe was just that for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Financial terms for the deal between Dogbe and the Jaguars were revealed today, with the two sides agreeing on a one-year contract worth $1.08 million with $25,000 fully guaranteed per KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson.

The 26-year-old has appeared in 40 games since being drafted out of Temple in 2019 by the Arizona Cardinals, accruing 61 total tackles, two sacks, four tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. Last season represented a considerable step up for Dogbe, appearing in 13 games (4 starts) and playing a career-high 282 defensive snaps.

Additionally, there is familiarity between the Jags and Dogbe, with defensive line coach Brenston Buckner coaching the Cardinals' defensive line in 2020 and 2021.

For a Jaguars team entering free agency with limited financial flexibility and a need for depth along the defensive line, especially after the loss of Arden Key to the Tennessee Titans, Dogbe gives the team another option. Second-wave signings don’t typically generate big headlines, but they are the moves that make a difference.

Considering Dogbe’s age and limited flashes in spurts with the Cardinals, the Jaguars took a low-risk gamble to acquire a player with upside at a position of need. Being nearly two weeks into free agency, these are the types of players acquired with the hope of them taking the next step in their development, with the floor being a depth piece to an ascending Jags defensive line. An overall solid signing for Jacksonville.
