Report: Jaguars Agree to Terms With Ravens CB Ronald Darby

The Jaguars have a new cornerback on the depth chart.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made yet another move.

During a busy first day of legal tampering, the Jaguars have added to special teams, the receiver room, and now to the secondary for a second time via cornerback Ronald Darby.

Jordan Schultz, who first reported the deal, says the deal is for two years at $10 million.

Darby spent 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens, starting seven games and appearing in 16 while also starting in two playoff games. Darby finished the season with 28 tackles, one tackle for loss, and seven pass breakups.

Darby has a clear connection on the Jaguars' staff in head coach Doug Pederson, who coached Darby from 2017-2019 in Philadelphia.

Darby, 30, was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2015 draft. He spent two seasons with the Bills, three seasons with the Eagles, one season with the Washington Commanders, two years with the Denver Broncos, and finally a year with the Ravens.

In nine seasons, Darby has recorded 401 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 97 pass breakups, and eight interceptions.

Cornerback became a big need for the Jaguars last week when they released Darious Williams, saving $10 million in cap space. In Darby, the Jaguars get a cheaper option who is a better fit for their press-coverage scheme.

"We’ve got to add to that group, I think Coach Nielsen [Defensive Coordinator Ryan Nielsen] spoke on it, Coach Pederson [Head Coach Doug Pederson] probably spoke on it. Now, I’m speaking on it," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"It’s a group we need to address. We feel good about the group we have, we feel like we’ve got some good, young guys to work with. We’ve got some veterans in there, but we’re definitely going to look to add to that group.”
