Report: Josh Pederson Set to Sign With the Jaguars

The 25-year-old tight end is reportedly set to become a Jaguar, according to Draft Diamonds.

It appears that the stars may have aligned for the Pederson family.

Josh Pederson, the son of Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, had his USFL contract terminated earlier this week after agreeing to terms with an NFL team. And according to one report, that team just happens to be the one his father leads.

According to a report from Draft Diamonds, Josh Pederson will be signing with the Jaguars. Pederson himself liked a post on Twitter indicating that the report was true, which would suggest that the 25-year-old son of the Jaguars' head coach is the newest Jaguar.

Pederson would be the second USFL player signed to a contract this offseason after Birmingham Stallions kicker Brandon Aubrey signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Pederson finished the 2023 season second on the Gamblers in both receptions (24) and receiving yardage (325) in 10 games.

Pederson, 25, spent his college career at Louisiana–Monroe. In his junior year, Pederson was named First-team All-Sun Belt after recording 43 receptions for 567 yards and 9 scores. He then started every game his senior year, recording 32 catches for 367 yards.

Pederson went undrafted during the 2021 NFL Draft before signing with the San Francisco 49ers and then spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints.

“Any team that is willing to give Josh an opportunity, that’s great,” Doug Pederson said in 2021, the same year he ran his son's workouts at his college pro day in front of 25 NFL teams.

“If it’s Philly, that’s awesome. It’s a great place to play, great fanbase and he’d have an opportunity to do that. There are 32 teams and hopefully one of them takes a shot on him.”

Could that team be the Jaguars? Only time will tell, but there are now two Pedersons in the NFL.
