Keelan Doss rejects Raiders offer and elects to stay on Jaguars practice squad, per report

When the Oakland Raiders announced they were releasing star wide receiver Antonio Brown on Saturday, they tried to bring back a preseason star in Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Keelan Doss, who the Raiders cut last weekend.

But according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Doss instead opted to stay on the Jaguars practice squad instead of returning to the Raiders, in part because of a pay raise. Here is exactly what Garafolo said:

I am told via sources that with Antonio Brown out of the picture, the Raiders tried to get Keelan Doss back today. And the Jaguars said, "I'll tell you what, we will up your salary. Even though you on the practice squad, you will make a full salary of a player on the roster — a rookie minimum of $495,000." Keelan Doss said "sounds good to me," so he is going to stay on the Jaguars practice squad at a full salary, and seems like he has moved on from the Raiders, who could use some receiver help and tried to bring back a guy that they signed as an undrafted free agent this year after the draft.

Doss electing to stay with the Jaguars despite not even having a guaranteed spot on the active roster is kind of amazing considering the need Oakland now has at wideout. It could also be very telling of how much Doss prefers one location. The undrafted rookie from UC Davis tallied 17 receptions for 162 yards and a touchdown in the preseason with Oakland.
