The New York Jets are continuing to search for a kicker as their struggles continue. The Jets signed Chandler Catanzaro earlier in the offseason, but after struggling in training camp and his only preseason game (1-for-3 on extra points) he retired.

The kicking job is Taylor Bertolet's to lose but he may do just that after missing two extra points last week against the Falcons

New York will have to bring in more competition, so here are some options that are available in free agency:

3. Ross Martin

Ross Martin

Martin should have been the team's regular season kicker at least one of the three preseasons he's been with the Jets. Unfortunately, Martin has faced serious competition including Pro Bowler Jason Myers last year, and Catanzaro who made all his 29 extra point attempts and made 25 out of 30 field goals in 2017. Martin was 1-for-1 on field goals in last year's preseason and had a good training camp. If he gets signed, this may finally be Martin's season to start.

2. Mike Nugent

Mike Nugent

Another former Jet, Nugent was 6-for-6 on field goals last season for the Raiders and only missed one extra point. Nugent is 37, but he's still got some years left in the tank if he's willing.

1. Kai Forbath

Kai Forbath

Forbath can be really good or inconsistent. He's shown signs of consistency such as making all of his 15 field goals in 2016 with the Vikings. In 2018, Forbath only missed one field goal and made all his extra points with the Jaguars. However he did miss six field goals and five extra point attempts in 2017 with the Vikings. Nonetheless, it doesn't hurt to give the 31-year-old a shot.

It made absolutely no sense for the Jets to cut Myers last year, as he deserved the money he desired. So now the Jets may have to suffer with their not being many options at kicker this offseason.

Of all the options out there though, any of these three should be considered if Bertolet isn't the guy.
