The New York Jets did an incredible job of developing an undrafted free agent to become one of the premier pass rushers across the NFL.

They just didn't do enough to keep him in Florham Park for the rest of his career.

Bryce Huff, New York's first edge rusher to record over 10 sacks in a season since Calvin Pace in 2013, signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles as first reported by Adam Schefter

The deal for Philadelphia was only compounded by their later signing of New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley hours later.

For Huff, the new deal in Philadelphia could earn the former Memphis star over $20 million annually but currently comes out to around $16 million. Huff was consistently among the best pass rushers when it comes to pressures and is only 25 years old.

For the Eagles, their current string of edge rushers in Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat struggled down the stretch. Philadelphia dropped from first in the NFL in sacks 2022 to 26th in the league in 2023 as the defense faltered down the stretch.

New York still have over $27 million in salary cap space with plenty more needs along the offensive line, receiving core, and backup quarterback position. While they still have first-round picks in Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson, along with John Franklin-Myers, New York could have a need for an additional pass rusher in 2024.
