Rodgers May Not Have to Face Former Packers' Teammate on Monday

In this story:
Aaron Rodgers could catch a bit of a break during his New York Jets' debut against the Buffalo Bills on September 11 at MetLife Stadium.
The future Hall-of-Fame quarterback may not have to face a Bills' defense that features veteran free safety Micah Hyde.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott mentioned said Hyde will miss the day's practice with a back injury that surfaced within the "last couple days or so."
"Micah will not practice, dealing with a few things there, in particular his back," said McDermott.
The Bills lost Hyde, a two-time All-Pro, for the 2022 regular season due to a neck injury sustained in Week 2. The 32-year-old safety was on track to start alongside Jordan Poyer in the Monday Night Football season opener, but that is no longer a certainty.
"We're just taking it one day at a time right now," said McDermott of Hyde's status moving forward.
Hyde spent the first four years of his NFL career as a teammate of Rodgers in Green Bay. The Packers' 2013 fifth-round draft pick signed a free-agent deal with Buffalo in 2017 and has been a defensive leader there ever since.
With Hyde on the shelf, the Bills dealt Rodgers and the Packers a 27-17 loss during the 2022 campaign. Rodgers went 19-of-30 passing for 201 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Speaking as a guest on NFL Network's Good Morning Football back in March, Hyde speculated about what it would be like playing against a Rodgers-led Jets' team.
“Playing against him is going to be tough,” said Hyde. “When Aaron Rodgers steps in that locker room with the Jets, if it happens, he’s going to give that whole team confidence. They’re all going to get better because of it.”
