WATCH: Why Jets icon Joe Namath believes Adam Gase is a 'brilliant' coach

Adam Gase has yet to coach a regular season game for the Jets but he already has the stamp of approval from the most iconic member in franchise history.
Legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath visited camp this week and gave a glowing assessment of Gase.
With the 76-year-old Namath a resident of South Florida, he had the opportunity to witness the evolution of Gase in his first three seasons as a head coach. Last season as coach for Miami, Gase even invited Broadway Joe to the Jets-Dolphins game.
"I live in Southeast Florida, and watching the transition he made with the Dolphins for those years was encouraging," Namath said to New York Jets.com.
Namath is a huge fan of Gase's offensive approach and is certain he's the right man to guide promising second-year signal caller Sam Darnold.

"I liked his style and I'm excited for Sam and the offense to have him as a man who knows offensive football," Namath said to New York Jets.com. "And if you know offensive football, you damn sure better know defense and he does."
Namath also cites Gase's work as offensive coordinator of the Broncos as reason for excitement. In 2013, Peyton Manning set single-season league records for passing yards (5,477) and passing touchdowns (55) under Gase.
Namath, who guided the franchise to their lone Super Bowl title, is confident the Jets are headed in the right direction to contend. He won't make any new guarantees but is steadfast the Jets can develop a championship caliber offense with Gase at the helm.

"Having been around some people, including Peyton Manning, for example, but being around some people in the offensive game, I think he's brilliant, and it's just a matter of these guys being able to put it together," Namath said to New York Jets.com.
