Jets Intercept Hurts Three Times, Stun Eagles to Even Record

Gang Green forced four turnovers in a 20-14 home win over previously unbeaten Philadelphia

It turned out to be lucky number 13 for the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Searching for their first win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the 13th all-time meeting between the two clubs, the Jets stunned the reigning NFC champions. Gang Green's 20-14 victory knocked Philadelphia from the ranks of the unbeatens, meaning every NFL team has at least one loss this season.

Evening their overall record at 3-3, the Jets did it with defense in Week 6. The team's fourth takeaway of the game set the stage for the go-ahead touchdown with only 1:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Nursing a 14-12 lead, the Eagles were looking to kill the clock but needed to convert one more third down to salt away a victory. That's when Tony Adams made the play of the day.

On 3rd-and-9, Adams intercepted a pass by Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts at the Jets' 47-yard line. The free safety raced 45 yards down to the Philly 8 to set Gang Green up with a first-and-goal opportunity.

"It was right on time. He's been great," said Jets' head coach Robert Saleh about the second-year pro, who's in his first season as a starter.

Running back Breece Hall scored from eight yards out on first down and Zach Wilson hit Randall Cobb for the ensuing two-point conversion. Hall finished with 93 yards from scrimmage and the decisive touchdown.

With the Eagles needing to go the length of the field in the final 1:46, the Jets' defense delivered again. Hurts completed one pass for two yards over his last four pass attempts. Philadelphia's franchise quarterback was intercepted three times in the loss, posting a 59.5 quarterback rating.

"Through these first six weeks, we've played a gauntlet of quarterbacks. I know we haven't gotten all wins, but we've embarrassed all of them," said Saleh.

New York also derailed a second-quarter Eagles' drive by taking the ball away from running back DeAndre Swift.

The Jets lost starting right guard Joe Tippmann to a thigh injury during the game and the rookie did not return. Veteran Wes Schweitzer filled in the rest of the way.

Playing this game without four cornerbacks, the Jets will welcome the bye week to get healthy.

Despite a depleted secondary, Gang Green managed to limit Philly to 5.7 yards per pass. Hurts went 28-of-45 passing for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Jets' starting quarterback Zach Wilson was serviceable, finishing 19-of-33 passing for 186 yards. He did not commit a turnover.
