Campbell Admits Being Out-Coached, Irvin Could Be Activated

Dan Campbell believes his team will rebound against Saints.

The Detroit Lions certainly did not put their best foot forward against the Green Bay Packers.

When a team turns the football over at a high rate and allows the opposing quarterback to have one of his better statistical performances of the season, a significant amount of reflection will occur to discover what caused so many errors.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love had one of his best performances of the season in front of a nationally-televised audience.

Among the issues faced by the Lions was the subpar play of the offensive line.

Quarterback Jared Goff was pressured throughout the game, which contributed to the veteran signal-caller fumbling on three occasions.

Liins head coach Dan Campbell, appearing on 97.1 The Ticket, acknowledged that he and his coaching staff were outmatched and out-coached by their division rival.

"I expect more from our O-line, man, I do. I hold them to a high standard and so do they. I mean, ask those guys to a man. Do you think that they feel great about that? No, none of us do," said Campbell. "The bottom line is I got out-coached, our coaches got out-coached, our players got outplayed. It wasn't our best foot forward. After all of that, not our best foot forward, turning the ball over three times, we still had a chance.

"Look, it happens unfortunately. The shame of it would be if we followed up with another performance that isn't our best. I don't believe that's going to happen. I know it's not going to happen," Campbell continued. "So, we know we got a tough opponent coming up in a tough environment, and man, our guys are going to embrace this. They just do. They always do. We'll bounce back. We're going to put up a good fight defensively."

Lions discussing activating Bruce Irvin

After struggling with its pass rush the past couple of weeks, Detroit could look to activate veteran Bruce Irvin this week against the New Orleans Saints.

When asked, Campbell noted, "We're looking at everybody, and he's a guy that we got our eye on. So, we'll see. He's somebody we're going to talk about heavily today."

The veteran has not been active the past couple of weeks, as he works to get in football shape.

Irvin has not suited up since January, when he was a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
