Lions' Josh Paschal Healthy, Ready to Apply Lessons Learned Rookie Season

Don't forget about Lions defensive lineman Josh Paschal.

Detroit Lions defensive lineman Josh Paschal had the benefit of being a full participant in the offseason workout regimen and OTAs heading into his second NFL campaign.

Recall last season, Detroit's 2022 second-round pick was hampered by a sports hernia that required surgery. As a result, Paschal was mostly an on-looker his first NFL training camp.

"It does feel different, just because I'm out here right now. Had a full offseason, you know?" Paschal told reporters. "Get ready for the upcoming season. And, I'm just ready to put in the work. I'm thankful to be out here right now. That's the biggest difference right now, is me being healthy and out here."

Detroit's personnel department is hoping the player it scouted last year takes steps forward, as the young defensive lineman could be an additional force alongside Aidan Hutchinson and James Houston.

“I can make the biggest impact just being versatile, being able to play on the edge, help set edges to stop run plays,” said Paschal. "And, to be able to come inside and rush the passer, to be able to be that twitchy guy, up front (and) in the middle.”

Being able to gain strength and putting in work in the film room have given Paschal an added perspective as to how offensive linemen are attempting to limit his production.

Missing time always hurts the development of a young player, but this year, the 23-year-old is ready to fully apply what he learned throughout his rookie season.

"I learned a lot last year, just about the pace of the game, the change in the game from college to NFL,” the young defensive lineman explained. “Just getting my feet wet last year, and being able to go out there and start some games. I'm thankful for that full experience last year of coming to the league. I was injured, able to rehab and come back. It taught me a lot about patience, perseverance and all the things that you need."
