The Detroit Lions continued their preparations for the Los Angeles Rams on the practice field Thursday.

Among those not participating in practice during the portion open to the media included Sam LaPorta, Teddy Bridgewater, Jerry Jacobs and Kalif Raymond.

Offensive linemen Taylor Decker, Graham Glasgow and Frank Ragnow all returned Thursday after taking a rest day Wednesday.

Outside linebacker James Houston was also participating after being listed as a full participant on Wednesday. Currently in the second week of his evaluation clock, the defender has been open about his commitment to returning and impacting the defense.

On Monday, coach Dan Campbell said he wasn't as optimistic about Houston playing as he was for other injured players like Jameson Williams and Brock Wright. Both players missed last week's game against Minnesota, with Wright having missed the last three.

Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn explained what the staff is looking to see from Houston and what it would take for him to be activated for Sunday's game.

"Go out and practice and see how effective you can be," Glenn said. "If you can be effective, then we'll put you in there and let you play."

In nine career games across two NFL seasons, Houston has recored 8.0 sacks and seven tackles for loss. When healthy, he can be an important addition to the Lions' pass rush.

Houston has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury. He is the last of a plethora of went on injured reserve early in the season. Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and fullback Jason Cabinda both returned to action last week.
