Live Updates from Packers-Seahawks Preseason Finale

In this story:
GREEN BAY, Wis. – It will be Jordan Love vs. Drew Lock as the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks wrap up the NFL preseason on Saturday at Lambeau Field. Here are all the highlights and scoring updates.
Final Score
Packers 19, Seahawks 15
Benny Sapp's interception clinched the victory as Green Bay ended the preseason with a 2-1 record. The Packers will open the season at Chicago on Sept. 10 and open the home slate against New Orleans on Sept. 24.
Fourth Quarter
Packers 19, Seahawks 15 (1:56 remaining)
Alex McGough – a seventh-round pick by Seattle in 2018 – hit Jadakis Bonds for 52 yards to set up Nate McCrary’s 1-yard touchdown run for the go-ahead score. It was a beautiful pass by McGough and a nice catch by Bonds, who got hot down the stretch of camp. On the play before the score, McGough hit Cody Chrest – a Packers shareholder – to convert a third-and-7.
Seahawks 15, Packers 12 (6:38 remaining)
Drew Lock went deep to Easop Winston for gains of 30 and 33 yards to move the Seahawks into scoring position. Finally, on third-and-goal SaRodorick Thompson scored from the 1 for the touchdown, and Lock and Thompson connected on the 2-point play.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (11:45 remaining)
Finally, a nice drive – with an asterisk, with impressive rookie quarterback Sean Clifford converting a fourth-and-1 sneak but exiting with an injured right elbow. The training staff didn’t seem especially worried, with Clifford getting some ice wrapped around the elbow between quarters.
Emanuel Wilson, who had been having a miserable game behind the backup offensive linemen, ran for 17, 3 and 3 more with 23 yards after contact and a missed tackle on each. The drive stalled, though. On fourth-and-2, Wilson was stopped short.
Third Quarter
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (3:20 remaining)
We’re up to eight punts in the quarter. On the first play of the drive, undrafted rookie outside linebacker Keshawn Banks drew a hold. He and Brenton Cox have had strong training camps. It will be interesting to see if one or both sticks with the team in some form or fashion.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (5:47 remaining)
If the NFL keeps records for such things, this must be the most punts in a quarter in preseason history. Yet another three-and-out resulted in Daniel Whelan’s monstrous 67-yard punt for a touchback. That’s six punts in about 9 minutes.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (7:50 remaining)
In his bid to earn a roster spot, undrafted rookie Brenton Cox made his second play of the day. After a tackle for loss earlier in the quarter, he batted down Drew Lock’s first pass of the drive.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (9:20 remaining)
The punters are getting a workout, but at least Nate McCrary ran 11 yards for a first down.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (11:31 remaining)
Karl Brooks batted down a first-down pass and Corey Ballentine swatted a way a pass on third down.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (11:56 remaining)
Green Bay’s first drive went nowhere. Emanuel Wilson, who entered the game as the NFL’s preseason rushing leader, lost 2 yards on a run and 1 yard on a catch.
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (13:22 remaining)
The defense forced a three-and-out punt to start, with Tariq Carpenter and Brenton Cox getting tackles for losses to set up third-and-long.
Second Quarter
Packers 12, Seahawks 7 (14 seconds remaining)
With a gusty wind blowing across the field and a bit in his face, rookie kicker Anders Carlson blasted a 57-yard field goal. For what it’s worth, Mason Crosby’s 56-yard field goal last season tied the longest by a Packers kicker in Lambeau Field history.
"He knocked that all the way to SHEBOYGAN!"

Sean Clifford completed a pass for 14 yards to Samori Toure to get the ball to Seattle’s 44 but the drive stalled. However, Seattle was offside on the punt, which gave Carlson a chance for the kick.
RELATED STORY: Jordan Love's preseason is complete.
Packers 9, Seahawks 7 (2:46 remaining)
After Packers running back Emanuel Wilson got stuffed on fourth down, Seattle raced right down the field and finally got the board. Drew Lock threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Jake Bobo, who beat slot corner Innis Gaines – one of the bubble players who might be fighting for his job this week. DeeJay Dallas started the drive with back-to-back big runs including a 27-yarder in which linebacker Isaiah McDuffie was pancaked.
Packers 9, Seahawks 0 (12:00 remaining)

Jordan Love capped a long scoring drive – and perhaps his day – with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Christian Watson. Matched against Michael Jackson, Love went back-shoulder for an easy score. The extra point was blocked by Jackson. The drive went 15 plays for 80 yards.
The Packers used the end of the first quarter as a quasi-2-minute drill. Love converted a third-and-2 with a 4-yard pass to Luke Musgrave, and Patrick Taylor and AJ Dillon moved the chains on a couple third-down runs. After Malik Heath made a leaping catch, coach Matt LaFleur called a timeout with 17 seconds left. Love had Christian Watson wide open for what should have been a 49-yard touchdown, but the ball was short of its mark, which allowed cornerback Michael Jackson to break up the pass.
If Love is done, he finished 9-of-15 for 63 yards and one touchdown. He had one touchdown and zero interceptions in all three preseason games and a 109.8 passer rating.
First Quarter
Packers 3, Seahawks 0 (1:54 remaining)
Isaiah McDuffie stopped a first-down run, Kenny Clark blew up a second-down bootleg and McDuffie was part of a swarming defense on a third-down checkdown to force a three-and-out punt.
Packers 3, Seahawks 0 (4:07 remaining)
Jordan Love’s third-down pass was deflected by Roderick Perry. Love caught the ball and tried to get the first down but was chopped down by veteran cornerback Artie Burns. Love is fine – the play lost 2 yards but give Love credit for 7 yards after the catch.
Packers 3, Seahawks 0 (6:18 remaining)
The Seahawks picked up one first down but Drew Lock’s third-down pass was almost snared for a pick-six by rookie cornerback Carrington Valentine. Kenny Clark, getting his first preseason action, stuffed one running play and fellow defensive tackle TJ Slaton blew up another and had a good rush.
Packers 3, Seahawks 0 (9:54 remaining)
Anders Carlson put the Packers on the board with a 43-yard field goal. Getting the start, Jordan Love dropped back to pass five times. He threw three incomplete passes but scrambled two times for 16 yards and a pair of first downs. Seattle cornerback Joey Blount broke up a pass to Christian Watson along the Packers’ sideline and did Aaron Rodgers’ old “championship belt” celebration. For some reason, he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Romeo Doubs Not Playing for Packers
Here are the 14 players who officially are out: Receivers Romeo Doubs (hamstring), Bo Melton (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring), cornerbacks Eric Stokes (foot) and Jaire Alexander (groin/precaution), safety Tarvarius Moore (knee), running backs Lew Nichols (shoulder), Aaron Jones (rest) and Tyler Goodson (shoulder), fullback Henry Pearson (knee), outside linebacker Rashan Gary (knee/precaution), inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (ankle), and offensive tackles David Bakhtiari (knee/precaution) and Luke Tenuta (ankle).
Doubs is the only surprise on the list. He’s out with a hamstring injury.
On the Bubble
While Jordan Love and most of the starters will play, this game really is about the backups and solving the bubble battles. Here are five features from life on the bubble.
Five features on #Packers on the roster bubble:
— Bill Huber (@BillHuberNFL) August 26, 2023
Brenton Cox: https://t.co/VZTxMpM2wM
Grant DuBose: https://t.co/KfYrU4x4Fe
Innis Gaines: https://t.co/1KR6xQa3ri
Patrick Taylor: https://t.co/GLTaIXpwBX
Emanuel Wilson:https://t.co/gqmlcI7RYU
One player who presumably is not on the bubble is rookie defensive tackle Karl Brooks. That’s unusual for a sixth-round pick but Brooks has had a strong camp and preseason.
“I feel like I put a lot of good stuff on film but you never know,” he said. “At the end of the day, I’m still sitting back with my fingers crossed. Hopefully, I make the 53 but, as of right now, I put in all the work that I can. I ain’t leaving nothing out on the field, so it’s in God’s hands right now.”
Pregame Notes
- Rookie kicker Anders Carlson will get his first real taste of Lambeau Field. The flags atop the uprights are barely blowing. The American flag atop Lambeau Field, on the other hand, shows a strong breeze.
To the north end, Carlson missed one kick (from 53 yards) but made the re-do. He missed from 45 and 54 to the south end. He made the re-do from 45 and I couldn’t quite tell on the 54-yarder.
- Rasheed Walker, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, Jon Runyan and Zach Tom formed the starting offensive line.
- Outside linebacker Rashan Gary went through warm-ups but will not play. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, who hasn’t played in either of the preseason games, went through warm-ups, as well.
