The Panthers Are Reportedly 'Really Comfortable' with Two QBs in 2023 Draft

Carolina continues to do its homework on this year's QB class.

Last week, Carolina made their move by acquiring the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a pair of first and second round picks each in addition to wide receiver DJ Moore.

The trade immediately had everyone wondering who exactly the Panthers are moving up for. However, it appears they haven't come to a conclusion on who they will take with that top pick. GM Scott Fitterer and co. knew that they had to walk out of this draft with one of the top quarterbacks, so why not just go ahead and go all the way up? This gives Carolina the option to take who they want and not the third or perhaps, fourth-best option.

Could it be Bryce Young? C.J. Stroud? What about Anthony Richardson or Will Levis? In a recent interview on the Dan Patrick Show, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer discussed the trade and who the Panthers could be interested in.

"My understanding is they're really comfortable with two of them. And now, they're going to see if they can add a third to that group which could influence a trade back down a spot or two. One way or another, they feel like they control the board right now.

"I don't know this for a fact. My guess is that the two would be Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. And I think there's interest in [Will] Levis. And I think there's interest in Anthony Richardson. I think over the next six weeks after sitting down and talking with these kids and watching them throw live and all of that...and I expect they're going to have a big contingent that goes out in sees C.J. Stroud throw live in Columbus and sees Will Levis throw live in Lexington, and Anthony Richardson in Gainesville, and Bryce Young in Tuscaloosa. They're going to see if a guy is good enough to join that group. My sense right now, and this is just kind of reading the tea leaves from the last few months, my guess would be that the football people there like Bryce Young. I think the owner has a little bit of a liking for C.J. Stroud. So, I think they're going to have an open mind towards the way they look at this."
