Brian Burns wore No. 99 at Florida State but that number was occupied by Kawann Short when he arrived in Carolina. He opted for No. 53 because five plus three is eight, which also equals the number of legs on a spider and if you know Burns' love for the Spider-Man movies, you get it.

Last week, Burns decided to finally go away from No. 53 and will now become the first player in franchise history to wear No. 0. Yesterday, the Panthers' social media team released a few first looks of Burns in his new number.

"I love it. It's a new beginning," Burns said in the video. "Just a lot of things changing around the building, a lot of things changing to the team and the organization itself. So I was like, why not?"
