Dan Orlovsky Thinks Richardson is Still 'Very Much in Play' for the Panthers

Could Carolina take a big risk with the number one overall pick?

If the Carolina Panthers want to play it safe, they'll take either C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young with the top pick of the draft. If they're willing to get a little gutsy and try to go for the grand slam, they'll go with Anthony Richardson.

Over the last couple of weeks, we've heard from a number of folks from around the league that the Panthers are down to Stroud or Young. However, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky believes Richardson still has a chance of ending up as the guy in Carolina.

"I know we have the conversation about Carolina and it's really only focused on Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. I absolutely think Anthony Richarson is still very much in play and should be for being the number one pick in this year's NFL Draft," Orlovsky said of NFL Live. "He's a top-five player at that position talent."

Earlier this month when the Panthers initially made the trade to acquire the No. 1 pick, Orlovsky tweeted that his gut feeling is that they went up to get Richardson.

If you think about it, is there really a better situation for Richardson to go to than Carolina? The offensive line, running back room, receivers, Andy Dalton as a mentor, an experienced coaching staff, and a top-10, maybe top-5 defense are all there to support him. If you had to bank on one staff to be the one to develop Richardson into an elite NFL quarterback, it's probably Carolina.
