Does New NFL Rule Increase Matt Corral's Chance to Remain With Panthers?

In this story:
Earlier this week, the NFL approved a rule which will allow teams to have a third quarterback dressed on gameday without burning a spot on the active roster. However, if a team decides to dress a third quarterback that player is not allowed to enter the game unless the top two quarterbacks are injured. Also, the player must be on the 53-man roster, not on the practice squad.
For someone like Matt Corral, this is great news.
Now, the Panthers still have to commit to the idea of giving Corral a spot on the active roster but with how injury-riddled the QB room was a year ago, one could assume Carolina will take full advantage of being able to dress a third quarterback.
Even if this new rule didn't come about, there was still a good chance that Corral would be on the roster. He's only in his second year and even though Bryce Young is the guy, they did think highly enough of Corral a year ago to trade up and get him.
Cutting him doesn't make much sense and you wouldn't get anything for him in a trade, so the Panthers might as well just hang on to him and see if he can develop into the role of QB2. Andy Dalton is 36 years old so at some point, Carolina is going to need to replace him. Corral can be groomed to be that guy and it seems like the coaching staff is willing to give him that chance.
"Good decisions. Looks comfortable. Feels comfortable," head coach Frank Reich stated. "I've told Scott from day one, I think Matt's been good in the quarterback meetings. He's got a good arm, he's a good athlete. This will be a good opportunity for him to get some more reps. Even if we bring a fourth guy in, it will be likely that Matt's going to get a lot of preseason play time."
